Dr. Zaffar Khan
Dr. Zaffar Khan completed the Executive Education Programme in Business Strategy at Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration in Boston MA, USA. He holds a PhD in Economics with emphasis in Petroleum. His 1991 Ph D dissertation is “The Economic Feasibility of Construction Fixed Offshore Platforms in Trinidad and Tobago." Today that is a reality. Prior to that he completed post graduate studies as well as undergraduate studies at UWI. In 2006 he attended the John M Campbell/OGCI Instructor Training programme in London.
From 2001 to 2009 Dr Khan was a Senior Instructor at UTT and lectured in various subjects at the Certificate, Diploma and Bachelors levels. From 2004 to 2008 he lectured in the Heriot Watt University's MSc Programmes in Construction (Project) Management, Facilities Management and Civil Engineering and Construction (Project) Management. He also lectured in the University of Sunderland's B Eng Programme in Operations Management. He also tutored in several subjects at UWI, School of Continuing Studies.
Dr Khan spent approximately 20 years at BP both at the Corporate and Operations Management levels functioning mainly as a business analyst to all departments. He contributed to the establishment of several contracting companies in the Mayaro/Guayaguayare/Rio Claro areas.
In 2004/2005 he was a consultant to Chevron Texaco on the Loran/Manatee Exploration Project. He was highly commended by the Country Manager as well as the President of Chevron for his significant contribution to the success of that project thus far. He functioned as an internal auditor at Neal and Massy Holdings Limited.
Dr Khan was a national award nominee and his efforts for his contribution to national development have been recognized by the Office of the Honorable Prime Minister and by the United Nations. He is the founder and lead consultant at Econsultants Limited.. He is an Associate Consultant at The Energy Management Institute of New York and a consultant/speaker with Petrostrategies Inc. He is also an approved lecturer and lectures in the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply programmes.
