Dr. Prahalad Sooknanan is a Communication Generalist with approximately thirty (30) year's experience as a teacher, academic and practitioner in the field of Communications. After graduating in Teacher Education, Educational Technology, and Communication Arts, he read for the Master of Arts degree in Mass Communications at the Center for Mass Communication Research, University of Leicester , England . Following the grant of a doctoral fellowship by the Organization of American States and the government of Trinidad and Tobago , he was subsequently awarded the Ph.D. degree in Communication Studies by the School of Communication Studies, Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA.
Dr. Sooknanan is a former Visiting Professor of Communication in the Department of Communication, University of Toledo , USA . He also served as an Assistant Professor of Communication in the Department of English and Communication, State University of New York, USA. In Trinidad and Tobago , in addition to teaching graduate courses and workshops in Communication at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business he has taught undergraduate courses in Communication in the Department of Liberal Arts, UWI, St. Augustine and serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT).
Dr. Sooknanan's research interests include Intercultural Communication, Integration of Educational Technology, Diffusion of Innovations, Attitudes and Perceptions of Users of Technology, and International and Development Communication. His areas of expertise in professional development include Communication Policymaking, Professional Business Communication, Presentation Skills, and Proposal and Technical Report Writing.
