Management Development Program for the Establishment Personnel Department, Dominica
Honourable Julius Timothy, Prime Minister (Ag.), Dominica continuing on the challenge set forth by Harrylal also called on the achievers to be agents of change, “As first recipients of this competency-based training, we expect that you would have equipped yourselves with the management skills required to operate in an environment of public sector reforms; an environment which demands that workers achieve higher productivity and effectiveness. Consequently, we look forward with anticipation to the innovations that you will bring about in your Ministries or departments in the design, development, implementation and delivery of government programs and policies.”
Honourable Timothy also congratulated the Lok Jack GSB for leading the way in building regional leaders noting, “My government is fully cognisant of the positive impact that there can be on any organisation, particularly one like the public service, as a consequence of having trained, competent and committed employees. As such, this government had no hesitation in endorsing the proposal of the Lok Jack GSB for the implementation of the program. I am sure that a solid relationship has been established with the Lok Jack GSB that will redound to the mutual benefit of the public service,” pointed out Honourable Timothy.
Honourable Charles Savarin, Minister for the Public Service also endorsed the Lok Jack GSB for leading the way in regional leadership development as he told the graduants that they were very privileged to have been trained by a well known and prestigious institution in the Caribbean, the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, University of the West Indies. “I hope that you have made good use of this opportunity and saw it as an occasion for your personal self development. In addition, the Public Service and the country in general are expected to benefit from a better skilled individual who will be capable of dealing with everyday challenges presented by management as a result of the Lok Jack GSB,” said Honourable Savarin. He also called for the graduates to see the journey as a starting point for future journeys. The public service requires many more journeys of that nature to achieve what we have espoused in this year’s theme “Excellence: You demand it – We deliver!”
